Matt grew up in San Diego and using the canyons, beaches and sports fields in the north county as his own personal playground. This time spent outdoors infused a passion for the landscape that still beckons to this day. His time in Chico, California allowed him insight to the “big world” outside of his sleepy, beach town Encinitas. This sparked a travel bug that has taken Matt on several backpacking trips throughout Europe and Central America. Matt spent a year in the beautiful state of Nayarit, Mexico where he was a tour guide for an eco-tourist resort, sharing his passion for the outdoors while leading guests on kayaking, surfing and hiking trips.

Settling back into the north county of San Diego there was a natural and focused direction to enter the landscape industry. Starting with his boots on the ground Matt has worked for several well known landscape companies while gaining valuable experience and knowledge along the way.

Matt and his wife stay busy raising their three children in Carlsbad. Over the years Matt has enjoyed coaching his kids in various sports, all the while taking advantage of all that California and the western states have to offer by taking family trips wherever and whenever possible. When there is down time, Matt enjoys firing up the bbq and and enjoying a few local craft brews with family and friends.
